Nikon COOLPIX L32 Review

Nikon COOLPIX L32 review

Nikon is a pretty well-known brand when it comes to entry-level digital cameras. It also offers many high-end products that are quite popular too, but it does seem to be pretty much dominating the low price range segment.

The Nikon COOLPIX L32, for one, has been an entry-level digital camera that hasn’t disappointed despite being on the market for years now. The company doesn’t fail to come up with regular updates too, though, in order to ensure that despite the changing requirements of the users, it remains one of the best entry-level cameras to have ever hit the market.

That said, we will be going through what exactly does the Nikon COOLPIX L32 brings to the table, which will definitely help you take the decision whether to buy it or not if you’re sitting on the fence.

Outstanding quality pictures and videos for the price

First things first, the quality of pictures and videos offered is inarguably the most important feature of any digital camera, and the entry-level products are no exceptional.

The Nikon COOLPIX L32 doesn’t disappoint on this front in the slightest. In fact, it surprises! For an entry-level digital camera, the quality of pictures and videos it produces is simply exceptional.

The pictures are perfectly clear and the video quality is just as good. Some of the additional features it comes with (which is actually rare at this price point) allow you to take even better pictures. The smart portrait system, for one, is definitely something many users would love as an additional feature.

It also shoots high-quality videos in 720p HD, but what’s even better is that the audio is amazingly clear too. This is actually worth noting, as a poor sound quality usually tends to be one of the most common drawbacks of an entry-level camera.

Great 5x zoom

The Nikon COOLPIX L32 is a 20.1 MP camera and comes with a 5x zoom. Given the low price, many wouldn’t expect much from the zoom. However, it manages to surprise on this front as well.

The 5x zoom turns out to be great for taking all type of pictures, ranging from wide-angle group shots to close-up portraits. Furthermore, you can even zoom in while recording videos, helping keep the videos steady.

Extremely easy to use

Well, that’s obviously something you expect from an entry-level camera, don’t you? Fortunately for most, the Nikon COOLPIX L32 is as basic as basic gets. Now although this may be a little disappointing for some, especially those who are a fan of some highly advanced features, for most others, this is going to be exactly what they want.

After all, the whole point of going for an entry-level camera, apart from the low price, is the ease of use, and Nikon COOLPIX L32 offers exactly that. It’s pretty easy to use even if you don’t have any experience at all using digital cameras.

However, you still might want to read all the help files that show up at the top of the screen, in order to understand what may be a little advanced stuff for you like transferring the media to your computer, using special effects, and more.

Some cool additional features

Although basic, the Nikon COOLPIX L32 does come with a few impressive additional features. As mentioned earlier, the smart portrait system is a cool additional feature, and can be a lot of fun to use. Other than that, it also allows you to add special effects, which is again something that won’t fail to impress many users.

This is one feature that’s often overlooked, especially when it comes to entry-level cameras. However, even an entry-level camera may turn out to be an expensive purchase if it stops working after just a few months of use.

This definitely doesn’t seem to what you would come across with the Nikon COOLPIX L32, though. It’s quite durable, and we have gone through quite a few customer reviews that suggest it may work for quite a few years without any problems.

However, there’s one particular problem that may make it stop working much earlier, as pointed out by some customers. We will be covering it in the following point.

Problem with the battery door

Well, this pretty much seems to be the only downside of the Nikon COOLPIX L32. Not really if you tend to use electronic stuff carefully, though.

The thing is that if you don’t bother being careful while dealing with the battery door of the camera, it may end up getting damaged. It may then become almost impossible to use the camera anymore.

However, this isn’t exactly a problem if you handle electronic products the way you actually should. You need to be careful while opening and closing the door, and make sure you aren’t being too careless with it. Unless you do that, you should be more than good, just as one of the customers posting a detailed review point out.

Overall, the Nikon COOLPIX L32 indeed seems to be the best entry-level digital camera out there. Despite the low price, however, it produces great quality pictures and videos and comes with some other cool features too.
